A question has come up in the Isett Safety Committee recently…Do Hardhats Expire?

YES!

• Is your hard hat older than 5 years?

• Is your hard hat fading, chalky or brittle?

• Is your hat dented, cut or deeply scuffed?

• Has your hat suffered an impact?

• Do you leave your hard hat in your car?

Then it’s time to get a new hard hat. Look for the date of manufacture stamped on your hard hat. If it’s more than 5 years, it’s time to replace it. See your supervisor for replacement.

• Remember to inspected your hard hat daily

• Clean your head gear regularly.

• Store in a cool dry place away from the sun.

• ALWAYS replace the hard hat after it has withstood impact or penetration.
