Hearing Protection

Effects of Noise Exposure

Hearing loss is typically painless and many times hard to identify.  With prolonged exposure to noise, some people may experience permanent hearing loss. When there are extremely high levels of noise (typically over 140 db), people often experience pain in the ear and may experience immediate hearing loss.

Those that suffer hearing loss often have other effects including:

  • Tinnitus or ringing in the ears

  • Verbal communication issues, isolation, annoyance, difficulty concentrating, etc.

  • Other effects may include stress, muscle tension, increased blood pressure, and hypertension.

IF YOU’RE EXPOSED TO LOUD NOISE (>85 decibels) WEAR YOUR PPE!
