Stay “in the loop” about roundabouts!
Here’s how to safely navigate a roundabout in Pennsylvania:
✅ Know Before You Go
Slow Down as you approach. Roundabouts are designed for lower speeds—typically 15–25 mph.
Yield to traffic already in the roundabout (coming from your left).
Watch for pedestrians and cyclists at the crosswalks.
🚘 Entering the Roundabout
Choose your lane (if there’s more than one) before entering.
Yield to all lanes of circulating traffic.
Enter only when it’s safe—there’s no stop sign, but don’t force your way in.
🔁 Inside the Roundabout
Do not stop. Keep moving once you’re inside the circle.
Stay in your lane if there are multiple.
Don’t change lanes in the roundabout.
🚗 Exiting the Roundabout
Signal right as you approach your exit.
Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
⚠️ Pro Tips
Large trucks? Give them space—they might need both lanes.
Emergency vehicles? Exit the roundabout, then pull over safely.
Did you know? Roundabouts have reduced injury crashes by 75% at intersections where stop signs or signals were previously used for traffic control (IHSS).
